Moorland Adventure is an Approved Activity Provider for the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and also an AALA registered company.

Our D of E coordinator, Steve Emberson, who has fulfilled that role for a number of Staffordshire Moorlands organisations has been involved in the scheme for the past 15 years , his extensive knowledge and enthusiasm is recognised by both the D of E organisation and local schools

We can offer complete bespoke packages to your group be it a school, youth group or other local group. We will work with you to help your groups have the experience of a lifetime while working through the Bronze, Silver and Gold programmes.

From training days to full expeditions we pride ourselves on providing exceptional expeditions that not only meet the Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) guidelines but are also fun fulfilling adventures for everyone taking part!

D of E Training Packages

Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award Badge

  • Two Day Training
    Two days classroom based training covering all sections of the expedition training framework as listed by the D of E.
    Practice Expedition route planning
    One day (or two sessions) planning the practice route and checking / allocating kit for the expedition.
  • Two Day / One Night Practice Expedition
    A 2 day, 1 night expedition including additional practical training in a more challenging environment. The group will complete their planned route under the guidance and support of our staff. Each leader will debrief the team and produce a report on their progress at the end of the expedition.
    Qualifying expedition route planning session
    A classroom based discussion with the supervisor to review the route plan for the qualifying expedition prior to submission
  • Two Day / One Night Qualifying Expedition
    A 2 day, 1 night expedition supervised by our qualified staff and assessed by our accredited assessor. Participants will follow the route they have planned and our leaders will supervise them remotely, meeting them on their route to monitor the progress and safety. At the end of the expedition the leaders will conduct a debrief with the group. (See note 1 below).

Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award Badge

  • One Day Route Planning Support (qualifying expedition)
    A classroom based day to plan and prepare for the qualifying expedition
  • Four Day / Three Night Qualifying Expedition
    Moorland Adventure staff will meet the group at the start location to help the group settle in and “acclimatize” prior to the expedition starting to ensure that the expedition criteria are not compromised.
    A 4 day, 3 night expedition supervised by our qualified staff and assessed by our accredited assessor. Participants will follow the route they have planned and our leaders will supervise them remotely, meeting them on their route to monitor the progress and safety. At the end of the expedition the leaders will conduct a debrief with the group. (

Notes:

1) Assessors charges are not included in the package costs. 2) Personal and team kit is available for hire.  3) Bursaries may be available to help reduce the initial expedition cost
